The Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government, Mr. Joseph ole Lenku, gazetted the National Task Force on Community Policing on November 7th, 2013.

Dr. Francis K. Sang, served in the Kenya Police Force for 30 years rising through the ranks to become the Senior Deputy Commissioner of Police and the Director of Criminal Investigation Department (CID). He served as a diplomat for 10 years at the Regional Centre on Small Arms and Light Weapons (RECSA) as the Executive Secretary coordinating programs on the reduction of the proliferation of illicit Small arms in 15 countries who are the signatory to the Nairobi Protocol.
